Mark leads FirstCity’s Trade and Political Risks practice which was established in March 1999.
Mark has 28 years insurance experience of which 25 years he has spent specialising in Trade and Political risks Insurance.
Mark is also a director of FirstCity Partnership Limited which is a privately owned insurance and reinsurance advisory firm based in London, trading at Lloyd’s and with the worldwide insurance markets, and which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority
The FirstCity Trade and Political Risks team have worked with the resource sector in Australia since 1998 after Mark had established a representative office in Australia for his previous firm and which service he has continued to develop as an important part of the FirstCity offering.
In the last five years Mark has been involved in the structuring, placing and servicing of Political Risks Insurance for equity investments, feasibility study and project financing and/or hedging facilities relating to more than a dozen different mining projects emanating from the Australian market in a diverse range of different countries. Mark is particularly proud of the manner in which FirstCity has developed support from political risks insurers for new project developments by Australian mining companies in the more challenging parts of Africa and elsewhere.
Apart from a number of Australian mining companies FirstCity is proud to be able to count some of Australia’s leading financial institutions as clients who have welcomed the high level of expertise and intense attention to service Mark and his team have to offer.
