| Mr Philip Green is also responsible for Swaziland, Namibia, Lesotho and Botswana. Mr Philip Green is an experienced career diplomat. Mr Green, previously DFAT State Director for New South Wales, joined the Department in 1984. He served as Third Secretary Dar es Salaam (1985-87), First Secretary, later Counsellor, London (1991-95), and High Commissioner Nairobi (1998-2000). In Canberra he served in the Central and Southern Africa Section (1985), various positions in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet (1988 – 1991), and Director of various sections in the South and South East Asia Division (1996-97). He has also served as Deputy Principal Member on the Refugee Review Tribunal (2000-2001). He was awarded the Order of Australia Medal in 2003 for his role in the response to the Bali tragedy. Mr Green has a Bachelor of Law and a Bachelor of Arts with Honours from the University of Sydney. He is married with three children. |
