Rod has been a senior manager at Coffey International for the last 25 years, and is one of Australia’s leaders in the field of international development. Most of his work has been on bilateral foreign aid programs and for the World Bank and the ADB. Since his first long-term assignment in Iraq in 1983, he has worked in more than 50 countries, including Africa, Asia, the Middle East and throughout the Pacific. His most recent assignment in Africa was in June 2009 when he undertook an analysis of financial investments that are funded by the UN, CGAP, Australia, the UK and the Netherlands, across 14 African nations. He has led teams across a range of sectors including complex multi-year programs in education, health, agriculture and governance. He is a Board Member of the Carnegie Mellon University, and entities of the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia. His book “Hot-Spotting: an Australian delivering foreign aid” has been a best-seller in its field.
