Roger Olds
Managing Director
Coffey International Ltd

Roger Olds has been the managing director of Coffey International Limited since 1996. Since assuming leadership, he has steered Coffey from a 300-strong consulting firm focused on the geosciences discipline within Australia to an S&P/ASX 300 company operating in multi-specialist fields with over 4,000 employees and a global footprint. During his tenure, Coffey has grown from a turnover of A$30 million to over A$500 million.
Roger’s focus on developing and implementing a growth strategy has seen Coffey diversify into international aid, project management, mining consulting, environmental consulting, environmental and social impact assessments, strategic infrastructure planning and rail infrastructure advice. His leadership has seen the acquisition and integration of more than 30 companies, the launch of a unified branding strategy and the roll-out world-wide of common financial and people management systems.
Coffey’s multi-specialist businesses provide services to the physical and social infrastructure markets and are united by a common vision - to improve the lives of world communities. Coffey operates in more than 80 countries world-wide and has permanent offices throughout Oceania, the Americas, Africa, Asia and Europe.
Roger joined Coffey in 1979 and specialised in geotechnical engineering. He has a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and a Diploma of Geotechnical Engineering from Monash University and has completed the JMW Leader of the Future course. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Australia.
Roger has been included in the top 100 most influential engineers by Engineers Australia 2005-2008 and in 2006 he was named the Monash University Civil Engineering Alumnus of the Year. During his leadership Coffey was named the best consulting engineering firm (revenue over $200 million) in the 2008 BRW client choice awards. This is the second time Coffey has received this prestigious award.
