  • National Executive Committee (NEC) of the ruling African National Congress (ANC)
  • Holds legal qualifications from the National University of Lesotho (NUL) and a masters degree in International Relations from the University of Zimbabwe
  •  Awarded an Honorary Doctor of Law Degree by the University of Limpopo
  •  Admitted as an advocate to the Bar of Lesotho and to the Bar of South Africa
  • Served as the Deputy Minister of Correctional Services from 2010 to 2014
  • From 2009 to 2010, he served as the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Justice and Constitutional Development, as well as Chairperson of the ANC cluster on Peace and Stability
  • Besides being an NEC member, Adv Ramatlhodi was the Director of the ANC Policy Institute from 2004 until 2009, and was the head the ANC Elections Committee from 2008 to 2014.
  • Served as a member of the Judicial Service Commission from 2010 to date
  • Served as Premier of Limpopo province from 1994 to 2004, and was also chairperson of the ANC in Limpopo
  • In the early 1990s, he employed by the University of the North as Deputy Registrar, Executive Assistant to the Rector and was also a lecturer in Public International Law
  • A student activist until he went into exile in 1980, where he held several positions within the ANC
  • Returned from exile as a political secretary and speech writer to President OR Tambo
