Robert is head of the mining, resources and infrastructure practice in Perth and leads the firm's Global Mining Sector. Robert's practice covers all aspects of project development in the mining and energy sectors, including drafting and negotiating concession agreements, advising on project structures and financing, third party access, obtaining all relevant permits to operate, land access, negotiation of construction contracts, off take contracts, preparation of all relevant power and water supply contracts and dealing with all operational issues. His practice also includes preparation of mining contracts, haulage and shipping agreements, gas and electricity transportation, construction of power and water treatment plans and all ancillary issues. Robert is a leading lawyer in relation to Chinese investment in Australia and Australian investment in China. He advises clients in respect to foreign investment and transactions. Robert advises joint venture participants, project developers, mining companies (including juniors), oil and gas companies, financiers and contractors on all aspects of mining, energy, power and infrastructure development. He was Chair of the Western Australian Gas Review Board between 2003-2004 and 2006-2008 which dealt with several appeals arising from the access arrangement determined by the Western Australian Economic Regulation Authority. Robert has also just recently completed eight years as a Director of the Board of Fremantle Ports, the statutory corporation that has responsibility for operation of Western Australia's main container terminal and a large bulk cargo operation.
