Mr. Mosebenzi Joseph Zwane was born in Vrede in the Eastern Free State.

Current Positions
Mr Mosebenzi Joseph Zwane is the Minister of Mineral Resources from 23 September 2015. He is also a Member of Parliament.

Mr Zwane is a Member of the Portfolio Committee on Small Business Development (National Assembly Committees). He is also a Member of the Portfolio Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (National Assembly Committees).

Academic Qualifications
Mr Mosebenzi Joseph Zwane obtained his secondary teacher’s diploma from the South African Teachers College in Pretoria.

Certificate in Executive Leadership Municipal Development from the University of Pretoria.

Positions last held/Career/Memberships/Other Activities
Mr Zwane got involved in politics in the early 1980s as a member of the Thembelihle Youth Congress. He is a member of the African National Congress (ANC). He subsequently joined the ANC's Thembelihle branch.

He is one of the founding members of the first ANC branch in Roadside, were he taught at a farm school.

Mr. Zwane served in the regional executive committee of the Frankfort region in the early 1990s. He then became the first secretary of the Frankfort region that became the Thabo Mofutsanyana region, preceding the amalgamation of local councils.

He became a regional executive committee member of the Thabo Mofutsanyana region and subsequently became its chairperson. Mr. Zwane has been the regional chairperson of the Thabo Mofutsanyana ANC region since 2006. He is currently regional treasurer of the ANC in the Free State province.

Mr Zwane was a Member of the Free State Provincial Legislature (Provincial-Legislature) since 21 May 2014. He has previously served as MEC in the portfolios of Agriculture and Rural Development as well as Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs in the Free State provincial government.
