Contingency Planning and Crisis Response

Recent events such as the terrorist attack in Algeria have illustrated the high-risk environment for business in many parts of Africa.  The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade offers advice to assist business to manage risks, including through its Smartraveller advisories that cover more than 160 destinations.

As the lead government agency in handling international crisis planning and response, the Department maintains a range of contingency planning and emergency preparedness measures.

Given the importance of effective crisis contingency planning for business operations in Africa, in this presentation Justin Brown of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade will discuss:

Counter-Terrorism Ambassador Bill Fisher will speak about the terrorist and kidnapping threat Australian businesses face in Africa.

Also attending the breakfast will be the Australian Ambassadors and High Commissioners in Africa, including those based in South Africa, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Ethiopia and Mauritius.
