Hon Abdul Noormahomed

Deputy Minister of Mineral Resources

Abdul Noormahomed holds a degree in medicine from the University Eduardo Mondlane in Maputo, Mozambique. He has received further education in tropical medicine and hygiene at the Liverpool School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of Liverpool. He also has a post-graduate Diploma in Health Planning and Administration from the Nuffield Institute for Health Services Studies, University of Leeds. 

From 1977 to 1980 he was the Chief Provincial Medical Officer in Manica Province. He then went on to be Director of Planning and International Co-operation until 1993. The following year, he was Director of Health and Medical Services. From 1994 to 2000 he was Deputy Minister of Health and from 2000 to 2005 he became the Governor of Nampula Province. In 2005 to date he was appointed Deputy Minister of Mineral Resources and alternate Member of Parliament.

He received a Presidential Award for Good Services in January 2005 and he is also a member of the following professional associations: Mozambican Public Health Association and Mozambique Medical Association.
